Finland: Direct access to Euroclear for Finnish equities

Clearstream Banking1 will deposit assets and settle all transactions in Finnish equities and corporate bonds eligible in the OM System of Euroclear Finland Ltd (EFi) as a direct participant.
This direct participant status will ensure better protection of our customers’ assets, enabling future service upgrades and preparing for the changes that the TARGET2-Securities (T2S) initiative will generate in Finland.
Note: Our direct link to EFi for Finnish government and other debt securities settled in EFi’s RM System will remain unaffected by the changes and we will continue to use Nordea Bank Finland Plc as agent and technical operator of the accounts in EFi.
Within the coming weeks, we will provide further details of the enhanced link and impact on customers with regard, for example, to pending transactions, procedures for domestic counterparties and tax relief procedures.
