Poland: IBAN format required for Polish Zloty (PLN) payments

15 July 2013
following the implementation of a new cash clearing system in Poland, the cash account number at Bank Handlowy W Warszawie S.A., Warsaw must be supplied in the IBAN format in order to achieve STP.
Impact on instructions
Customers who are crediting the PLN cash account of Clearstream Banking1 at Bank Handlowy W Warszawie S.A., Warsaw must specify the account number in the IBAN format (see below).
Customers should also please start using the IBAN format in their payment orders; this is not mandatory but it is highly recommended in order to improve the efficiency of the payment processing.
Note: If payment is not for the Central Bank, customers must not use the central bank BIC (NBPLPLPWXXX) in the Account With Institution field (:57a:) of their payment order.
