28.12.2012

On 21 December 2012, the U.S.A. and Ireland signed a bilateral agreement (attached below), on the basis of the reciprocal version of the Model 1 Intergovernmental Agreement, in order to improve international tax compliance and to implement the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA).

This is the fourth FATCA bilateral agreement to be published so far; the previous three were signed between the U.S.A. and the United Kingdom, the U.S.A. and Denmark and the U.S.A. and Mexico.

We continue to monitor the implementation of FATCA and will provide more information as it becomes available.
