Portugal: Usage of the Power of Attorney for Tax Reclaim Processes Follow-up
Customers must use the Special Power of Attorney from the final beneficial owner to Clearstream Banking's1 depository Banco Santander Totta (Power of Attorney for Tax Reclaim Processes Follow-up) only for standard refund applications submitted to Clearstream Banking.
Clearstream Banking will have no involvement or responsibility in the reclaim process (including but not limited to the submission of additional data requested by the Portuguese Tax Authorities (PTA) or in the payment of refunds) in cases where the Power of Attorney for Tax Reclaim Processes Follow-up is used for applications submitted directly to the PTA.
As a general rule, we remind customers that the tax forms generated by Clearstream Banking and published on the Clearstream website must be used exclusively for tax relief/reclaim applications processed via Clearstream Banking.
Customers are reminded that, with respect to tax reclaims in general, Clearstream Banking accepts no responsibility for their acceptance or non-acceptance by the tax authorities of the respective country.
