Norway: Power of attorney required from the beneficial owner to Clearstream Banking

25.10.2013

The Norwegian Central Office - Foreign Tax Affairs has announced that, effective

immediately

a power of attorney, from the beneficial owner of Norwegian taxable securities to Clearstream Banking1, authorising CBL to claim the refund on the beneficial owner’s behalf, must be attached to the reclaim application together with other required documentation.

Impact on customers

For all tax reclaims, customers are requested to submit, per reclaim application and together with other required refund documentation, the Power of Attorney from the Beneficial Owner to Clearstream Banking, duly completed and signed by the beneficial owner.

It is strongly recommended that, for reclaims already submitted and still pending, such power of attorney also be provided in order to minimise any delay in the reclaim process.

We continue to monitor the Norwegian market for developments and will provide more information as it becomes available.

Further information

The new Power of Attorney form is available under Tax Forms to use - Norway.
