Majority of funds in Malta (99%) are established in the corporate form, being public limited companies or open-ended investment company typically multi-fund (ie allowing for the creation of sub-funds) registered as a public limited company under the Companies Act.
The unit trust is governed under the Trusts and Trustees Act (Cap. 331, laws of Malta).
The contractual fund is governed under the Investment Services Act (Contractual Funds) Regulations (S.L. 370.16, laws of Malta).
