U.S.A.: Deadline for 2020 U.S. withholding tax reclaims


Clearstream Banking1 would like to inform customers that until

4 January 2021

it will accept customer applications for reclaim of tax withheld on U.S. source dividends and interests paid in 2020. It will reject any reclaim application received after this deadline and will ask customers to apply for the reclaim directly to the U.S. Internal Revenue Service (IRS).

Customers are asked to take note that:

  • Tax refunds will be processed in the order received and only when there are sufficient funds in Clearstream Banking internal tax account.
  • Tax refunds on U.S. taxable dividends and interests paid from 1 January to 30 September 2020 are, since 31 October 2019, subject to an extra fee. For more information, see Announcement A18178.

How to instruct

Withholding tax reclaim applications should be sent to Clearstream Banking via SWIFT MT565, MT599 or MT568.
